Ingrédients

  • ~120g sugar
  • 375g flour
  • 225g softened butter or margarine
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten (optional)
  • decorations (raisins, dried cranberries, orange peel,...)
  • The original recipe: 1/2 cup sugar, 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup butter or margarine, 2 teaspoons grated orange peel, 2 egg yolks, pinch of salt, 1 egg white (optional).

Étapes

  1. Measure 110g of sugar. Mix with flour, butter, orange peel, egg yolks and salt.
  2. Mixture may look dry. It's ok.
  3. Roll pieces of dough into little logs. Cross ends over on cookie sheet to make wreaths (or sida symbol).
  4. Brush cookies with egg white (you have left over from yolks or milk).
  5. Place a decoration where ends cross...the original recipe uses candied cherries which we replaced with raisins or something else that is edible!
  6. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly golden. Cool on rack.
  7. You can sprinkle the wreaths with a little sugar before baking, if you want.
