
Broccoli Bread Pudding
The simple but deliciously rich way to use broccoli has become a special occasion standard among my family since guests really seem to love it.

Ingrédients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 4 cups, finely chopped broccoli, steamed
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 teaspoons mixed dried herbs of your choice, optional
- Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 4 average slices whole grain bread
- 2 cups grated mild cheese
- Wheat germ plus sesame seeds for topping
Étapes
- Heat the butter in a large skillet until it begins to foam.
- Add the onion and garlic and sauté over moderately low heat until the onion is nicely browned.
- Add the broccoli, sour cream, herbs, and salt and pepper. Stir together and remove from the heat.
- Beat together the eggs and the milk.
- Tear the bread into small pieces.
- Oil a deep, 9- by 9-inch (23cm by 23cm) (precisely !) casserole dish and layers as follows: half the bread, half the broccoli mixture, half the eggs, and half the cheese. Repeat the layers, then sprinkle with the wheat germ and then the sesame seeds.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, 180°C, or until the top is nicely browned.
